ST. JAMES EDITION

ST. JAMES EDITION
ScnTUEU
a reference to an edition of an English version of the Bible prepared in England under King James I (1566-1625). In 1604, at a conference of churchmen, it was requested that the Bible be revised as it was thought existing translations were corrupt and at variance with the original. King James I took on the project and approved approximately fifty revisers to work on it. It was finally published in 1611 as the King James Version. Since this time, various revisions of this Bible have been made.
