a redheaded cowboy who was the main character in the Western comic strip "Red Ryder." American artist Fred Harman (1902-1982) created the strip in 1938, and within ten years it had an estimated worldwide distribution of 750 newspapers. The stories told of Red Ryder and his companion, an American Indian boy named "Little Beaver," traveling throughout the western United States. They were heard on the radio, appeared in a television series and were seen in motion pictures.
