(1818@1883) German political philosopher widely regarded as the founder of modern socialism. Marx expounded the belief that the evils of capitalist society could be abolished only by the destruction of the whole capitalist economy and establishment of a new classless society. In 1867, he wrote Das Kapital (German for the capital), a systematic critical study of capitalist economy which contains the tenets on which modern communism is based. One of Marx's most famous principles is, "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs."(1818-1883), German political philosopher. Marx is regarded by some as the founder of modern socialism. The work he is most known for is The Communist Manifesto, in which he states that the evils of capital ist society cannot be abolished by reform, but only by the destruction of the whole capitalist economy and establishment of a new classless soci ety. One of his most well-known phrases is, "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." . . .
