a massive monument at the northeast corner of Hyde Park, a public park in central London, England. It was built by King George IV (1762-1830) in the early 1800s and was originally erected in London in front of the official residence of British monarchs, Buckingham Palace, to act as the palace's main gate. Later, in 1851, the Marble Arch was moved to Hyde Park to replace an earlier gateway made of brick.a monument at the northeast corner of Hyde Park.
