Another German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), referred to Kant as the Great Chinaman of Konigsberg due to the similarities between Kant's views on virtue and duty and those of the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius, who lived around the 5th century B.C.
