The hero of most of his novels is James Bond, a secret agent for British Intelligence.(1908-1964) English author known for the internationally popular spy novels he created featuring the British secret service agent, James Bond. The novels are filled with intrigue, romance, narrow escapes and technologically advanced weapons. Fleming had a varied career, working as a journalist, banker and stockbroker, and serving as a high- ranking officer in British naval intelligence during World War II (1939-1945). He returned to journalism in London after the war and published the first of his James Bond stories, Casino Royale, in 1953.
