DICE-A-THERMS (DICE-O-THERMS)
ScnTUEU
n.a humorous reference to isotherms, lines drawn on a map or chart connecting all the areas that have an equal temperature at a given instant or the same average temperature over a certain period of time. For example, the map of an entire country might be shown with a line drawn over it linking all the areas of the country that have had an average temperature of 80 degrees during the past month. Such maps or charts are used in forecasting the weather. The term isotherm comes from the Greek words iso- meaning equal, and therme, meaning heat.
