BALL, HAD A
ScnTUEU
(colloquial) had great fun; enjoyed (oneself) very much. (colloquial) had great fun; enjoyed oneself very much. (colloquial) had great fun; enjoyed (themselves) very much. (slang) had a thoroughly good time. Although the origin of this term is uncertain, it probably comes from the word "ball" meaning a large extravagant gathering featuring social dancing, and often serving a purpose, such as to help a charitable organization. Example "The two friends went to their first party together and boy did they have a ball!" Well, there's a country, you might not have heard of it, called Russia and it went by the boards a number of years ago and it imported a German philosophy called communism and it had a ball, and it nevertheless is trying to go forward and make something out of itself, and so forth. -A Review of Study (22 Sept. 64)
