a well-known private college for women, opened in 1875 in Wellesley, Massachusetts, USA, located about twelve miles from Boston. It was established to provide women with equal college education opportunities to men and it was the first women's college to have science laboratories. In addition to science, the college teaches a variety of subjects including education, religion, economics and mathematics and offers graduate degrees in several of its courses.
