a
trademark for a
brand of medicated ointment
developed in the early 1900s and used to relieve the
symptoms of colds and congestion. The ointment can be placed in a
hot steam vaporizer and its vapors inhaled or it can be used as an external medication by rubbing it directly on the
body, such as on the back, where it penetrates the skin and serves to soothe the muscular aches and pains of a
cold. When rubbed on the chest, it evaporates and one then breathes in the vapors which provide
relief from nasal congestion and ease coughs.
