THERE'S THE FRYING PAN-THERE'S THE FIRE

THERE'S THE FRYING PAN-THERE'S THE FIRE
ScnTUEU
a variation of out of the frying pan into the fire, meaning to escape or be clear of one difficulty only to get oneself into a greater one; from bad to worse. This saying dates back many hundreds of years and is possibly an allusion to a fish or other living creature leaping out of a frying pan to avoid being cooked, only to fall into the cooking fire.
