reference to a story in the
Bible in which Jesus meets two men who are possessed by
demons. The
demons are very fierce and
block the
path for others to travel. When Jesus comes upon them, however, they
beg that if he is going to
force them out of the bodies of the men, to
send them into a herd of swine (pigs) that are nearby. Jesus tells them to go and they
leave the men and go into the swine. The swine then, all at once,
run violently down a steep
bank and into a lake where they all drown.
