SANTA FE RAILROAD

SANTA FE RAILROAD
ScnTUEU
the name of a former railroad company founded in 1859 and which became one of the largest railways in the nation. By 1941 it had more than 13,000 miles of track, but shortly thereafter the company gradually contracted. By 1970 the days of Santa Fe's famous passenger trains such as the Super Chief were largely over, its passenger services were sold, and it was purchased by another company in the late twentieth century.
