troupe of chorus girls,
world famous for their synchronized precision dancing and high
kicks. The first Rockettes appeared at
New York City's Radio City Music Hall (a
motion-
picture theater renowned for its spectacular
stage show) in the 1930s. Throughout the twentieth century the
troupe expanded from its original 16 girls to approximately 175, enabling them to go on tour, appear on television and film and to appear at
different events. More than seven decades after the founding of the Rockettes, their performances can still be seen at Radio City.
