PERFUNCTORYITIS

a disease gets amongst auditors called perfunctoryitis. They see a floating needle in every blowdown (when, of course, the needle does behave loosely for the moment during the blowdown). As a result such an auditor runs a process to a blowdown and says "floating needle." (HCO PL 5 Aug 65)
