O'HARA, SCARLETT

the leading character of the novel and motion picture, Gone with the Wind, written by American author Margaret Mitchell (1900-1949). Scarlett (played by American actress Vivien Leigh [1913-1967] in the motion picture) is a shrewd, strong-willed Southern belle determined to win her true love, Ashley, and to rebuild her plantation during and after the American Civil War (1861-1865).
