George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950). The musical tells how Englishman, Henry Higgins, a
professor of
phonetics teaches Eliza Doolittle, an uneducated cockney
flower seller, how to speak and
act like a duchess and passes her off successfully as such in high society. The music from this musical was one of the biggest successes of the
American musical theater with over five million copies of the recording sold.
