m. a coined variation of moth-eaten, which means antiquated, worn out or out-of-date. Moth-eaten literally means eaten by moths and refers to the destruction they cause to clothes stored in closets or other such places. Some moths lay their eggs in woolen fabrics, furs, and feathers, upon which the larvae feed.same as moth-eaten out of fashion; antiquated.
