in a small business it is that person in charge of the business. He may not own the business but he is the top executive on the premises often called the General Manager and assumes overall responsibility for the business. He ensures that staff get the work done, is ultimately responsible for solvency and the accompanying planning and organization that will increase business activity and profits.
