reference to Patrice Lumumba (1925-1961), African political
leader and the first
prime minister of the former
Democratic Republic of the
Congo (modern Zaire) from June to September 1960. During a political crisis he was forced out of
office and was shortly thereafter
arrested and placed in a military
camp. While being transferred to another location he was assassinated.
