a reference to the former non-white township of Langa, in South Africa, east of Cape Town, that was the site of violent riots in 1960. During demonstrations organized by the Pan-Africanist Congress (an organization dedicated to the abolishment of apartheid) in their effort to take initiative and leadership of the anti-apartheid movement, police opened fire on and killed four demonstrators. Shortly after the demonstration the government banned PAC.
