psychiatric
authorities of his
time
. He differed with
Freud
in regarding the
libido
(
energy
or driving
force
) as a will to live rather than a
manifestation
of the
sex
instinct
, and
holding
that a
neurosis
is to b e understood more by
analysis
of the
patient
's present
problem
and inadequate "adjustment" than by unearthing childhood fixations and conflicts. He laid tremendous
stress
on
Druidism
and wrote a great deal about it.
