Jerusalem, said to be the site of Jesus
Christ's
betrayal by one of his disciples,
Judas Iscariot, and where Jesus was
arrested. Shortly after the arrest he was
tried and crucified. The
word Gethsemane (Hebrew
gat shemanim, "oil
press") suggests that this might have been a grove of olive trees where an olive
press was located.
