a theater located approximately five blocks from the White House in Washington, DC. It earned notoriety on April 14, 1865 as the place Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), sixteenth President of the United States, was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth (1838-1865). In 1968 the theatre was made into a Lincoln museum containing various items related to Lincoln's life and death.
