(slang) a propeller driven aircraft.
n. 1. a
reference to an aircraft that is driven by a propeller. A
fan is another
word for a propeller and
job is a
term used to describe something that is manufactured, such as a
motor vehicle or aircraft. 2. a possible
reference to an aircraft that is driven by a
type of jet engine called a turbofan or
fan-jet. This engine expels a stream of
burned exhaust gases at a high
velocity, the reaction from which creates
thrust or forward accelerating
force (i.e., it causes the engine to move forward). It also has a
fan toward the front of the engine which draws in air and also forces it out the back of the engine (via air ducts), thus serving to add to the forward
thrust.
