CHRISTIANS AND LIONS

CHRISTIANS AND LIONS
ScnTUEU
a reference to the practice in ancient Rome of throwing a Christian into a lion's cage or den as a form of religious persecution. Such action was also performed for public entertainment in the Roman arena. In the fourth century, however, the Roman Emperor Constantine I (288?-337 A.D.), converted to Christianity and before long instead of being persecuted by the Romans, the Christians were enlisting Romans to persecute other religious groups.
