CERMAK, MAYOR

Anton Joseph Cermak (1873-1933), American politician who in 1931 was elected mayor of Chicago, Illinois. Two years later on February 15, 1933 he was wounded by an assassin's bullet during an unsuccessful attempt on the life of future president Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945). He died shortly thereafter.
