Gaius Cassius Longinus (? - 42 b.c.), Roman general and politician. He conceived the plot against Julius Caesar's life and persuaded Brutus, a friend of Caesar, to join the conspiracy. After Caesar's murder, public opinion turned against the conspirators, and they fled Rome. See also Caesar, Julius in this glossary.
