BUSINESS AS USUAL

BUSINESS AS USUAL
ScnTUEU
continuing to proceed as normal in spite of unusual, difficult or disturbing circumstances; the normal course of some activity. This phrase originated as an announcement that a commercial establishment was continuing to operate in spite of construction, fire or other similar interruption. It gained broader use in the early 1900s. It can be used both positively (as above) and ironically, meaning that something is being continued in the face of clear indication that it ought to be stopped or changed.
