ScnTUEU
to intensively use one's mental faculties; to work extremely hard. This is a coined variation of the nineteenth-century phrase work one's fingers to the bone, meaning to work very hard at something and which alludes to working so hard with one's hands that the skin and flesh wear away and the bones show through.
