Bond became the best-known hero of spy fiction in the
late twentieth century. He is regularly led into highly
dangerous but exciting encounters with some of the
world's cleverest, most fiendish villains, situations in which he never loses his composure and always comes through.
Bond is portrayed as ruthless, witty, invincible and irresistible to women. His
code number is 007, the double-0 designation indicating his official
license to kill.
