an aircraft
manufacturing company, founded in 1916, which produced a wide variety of civilian and military
planes. Do you think anybody really bawls them out to amount to anything for doing anything or not doing anything on the
job? No, not if they're working for Boeing or something like that.
a United
States aircraft
company founded in 1916 which became one of the
world's largest manufacturers of military and commercial aircraft. Named after its
founder,
William E. Boeing (1881-1956), it pioneered the development of
single-
wing planes in the 1930s and
developed several bomber aircraft which were used in
World War II (1939-1945). While continuing to
supply aircraft to the military after the
war, Boeing turned to commercial aircraft and produced the
world's first jetliner, the Boeing 707, and later the Boeing 747 which had twice the carrying
capacity of any previous jetliner.
