BLUE, AIR WAS NO LONGER

BLUE, AIR WAS NO LONGER
ScnTUEU
the atmosphere was no longer filled with profane language or obscenities. This is a coined variation of make the air blue, meaning to use obscene or blasphemous language; to curse or swear profusely. The use of blue to mean obscene may derive from a series of erotic French books published in the early nineteenth century called La Biblioth?que Bleue (The Blue Library) or from the customary blue dresses of prostitutes in the early nineteenth century when the books were written.
