a
reference to
John J. Anthony, a radio show
host of the early to mid- 1900s. Anthony, whose real name was Lester Kroll, hosted "The
Goodwill Hour," an
American radio
program which began in the mid- 1930s and ran for many years. "The
Goodwill Hour" was an
advice show where people visiting the studio would anonymously
state their problems over the air.
Mr. Anthony would then give them
advice and solutions to
assist them with these. Throughout the decades of the show, "Ask
Mr. Anthony" came to be part of the
language.
